Métier en 2026 et 2027
A Cloud Engineer designs, builds and operates the infrastructure that applications run on in AWS, Azure or GCP, treating it as code. The work balances security, reliability and cost, so that teams can ship without worrying about the platform underneath.

Senior
Designs the cloud platform that many teams build on, balancing isolation, connectivity, resilience, security and cost.
You decide how accounts are structured, how networks connect and how workloads scale and recover, and you review other engineers' designs. Your decisions apply to the whole organization, not to one service. The change from mid level is that you set the standards others follow and are accountable for how they hold up during an incident or an audit.
Score moyen exigé : 72 %
Infrastructure Modules & Reusability
Pourquoi : You publish a module registry with versioning and upgrade paths, so fifty teams get a security fix by bumping a version rather than by patching fifty copies.
Multi-Account/Project Strategy
Pourquoi : You design the account hierarchy and account vending, so a compromised dev account cannot touch production and a new team gets a guarded account in minutes.
VPN & Peering
Pourquoi : You replace a mesh of peerings with a transit gateway and plan the routing, so a new region or data center joins without rebuilding every connection.
Private Connectivity (PrivateLink/Endpoints)
Pourquoi : You route S3 and partner API traffic through endpoints and PrivateLink, so regulated data never crosses the public internet and the compliance review passes.
Cloud Security Posture Management
Pourquoi : You turn CSPM from a list of alerts into org-wide guardrails with ownership and remediation SLAs, so the same misconfiguration stops reappearing across accounts.
Network Segmentation
Pourquoi : You segment workloads with tight firewall rules and a WAF, so an attacker who lands on one compromised host cannot move laterally to the payment systems.
Auto-Scaling Strategies
Pourquoi : You choose scaling policies per workload, such as scheduled for a known launch and target tracking for bursty APIs, so a traffic spike does not cause an outage or a runaway bill.
FinOps Practices
Pourquoi : You set up showback and unit-cost metrics per team, so engineering sees cost per customer and chooses optimizations, instead of finance cutting budgets blindly.
Multi-Cloud Strategy
Pourquoi : You judge whether a second cloud is worth its operational cost for a given requirement, and avoid lock-in where it matters, rather than adopting multi-cloud by default.
Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
Pourquoi : You pick a DR strategy such as pilot light or warm standby from the business RTO and RPO, and test it, so a region failure is a rehearsed procedure and not a surprise.
Cloud-Native Security Architecture
Pourquoi : You build zero-trust and shift-left checks into the platform design, so insecure infrastructure code is blocked in the pipeline before it reaches an account.
Well-Architected at Depth
Pourquoi : You run a Well-Architected review on a critical workload across all six pillars and turn the findings into a prioritized plan the team commits to.
