What each level must prove

Mid-level

Accountable for running a full hiring process that assesses candidates consistently and attracts them to the company.

You own requisitions from intake to shortlist, design the interview process, and start shaping how the company presents itself to candidates. You coordinate interviewers rather than only talking to candidates. Compared with junior, the quality of the decision matters as much as the speed of the search.

Study trail for this level: Recruiting / Talent Acquisition

  • Resume Screening

Why: At this level you set the screening criteria with the hiring manager and push back when a must-have list is so long that no real candidate passes.

  • Phone Screens

Why: Lets you turn a phone screen into a repeatable format that surfaces comparable information on every candidate, so the shortlist is not driven by rapport.

  • Structured Interviews

Why: Lets you give every candidate the same questions and a scoring rubric, then calibrate interviewers whose ratings drift, so debriefs compare evidence rather than impressions.

  • Behavioral Interviewing

Why: Lets you probe a candidate's account of a past conflict until you see what they actually did, instead of accepting a rehearsed answer.

  • EVP Development

Why: Lets you articulate why someone would join this company over a competing offer, based on what current employees say rather than on the careers page slogan.

  • Careers Page Optimization

Why: Lets you rewrite a job posting and careers page so the right candidates find it in search and complete the application instead of abandoning it.
