Mid-level
Accountable for driving a workstream to an answer, in strategy content and in how it is argued to the client.
You lead with a hypothesis, apply strategy frameworks to real markets, manage client stakeholders and write storylines that lead with the answer. Compared with junior, you are expected to have a point of view, not only a clean analysis.
Average score required: 67%
Hypothesis-Driven Problem Solving
Why: In week one you propose a first answer, such as 'the decline comes from pricing in one segment', and design the few analyses that could prove it wrong, saving weeks of exploring.
Financial Analysis & Modeling
Why: You model a restructured P&L with scenarios the client can change, so the sponsor can test the recommendation in the room instead of taking it on trust.
Data Analysis & Interpretation
Why: You find the insight in messy client data and decide which cut deserves a slide, so the client acts on a finding and not on a spreadsheet.
Competitive Strategy Analysis
Why: You use Five Forces or a strategic group map to explain why a competitor earns more in the same market, and what position the client could realistically take.
Growth Strategy
Why: You compare entering a new market, extending the product line or acquiring a company, and show the client the trade-offs between building and buying.
Stakeholder Management
Why: You identify the manager who will block the recommendation and meet them before the steering committee, so you are not surprised in the room.
Pyramid Principle Communication
Why: You open the document with the answer and group the supporting points beneath it, so a busy executive gets the so-what in the first page.
